Authenticity Guarantee

Khaas Art Gallery lists and sells in its ‘Browse and Buy’ online catalogue art that it owns (Khaas Art Gallery’s own collection) as well as art on consignment, either from an artist itself, or from a reputable private collector or a reputable and established affiliated art gallery.

Khaas Art provides an assurance to each purchaser of artwork from Khaas Art Gallery that each piece of art we offer for sale from our own collection through online purchase is a genuine work of the artist listed. Khaas Art Gallery also provides an assurance on behalf of the seller that each piece of art which we offer for sale that does not belong to Khaas Art but is either on consignment from an artist, or put up for sale on the Khaas Art ‘Browse and Buy’ online catalogue, is a genuine work of the artist listed.

Authenticity in relation to artwork shall mean compliance of the artwork with the description provided on the web site, particularly with reference to the name of the artist, title (if any) of the artwork itself, date, the school of art (if mentioned), dimensions, medium, et cetera.

All art sold at Khaas Art Gallery is sourced either directly from the artist, from reputable art galleries affiliated with Khaas Art Gallery, or from reputable individual art collectors who are able to prove provenance to the satisfaction of Khaas Art Gallery. The artwork is further screened and authenticated by affiliated experts and directly by the artist where possible. Based on our diligent scrutiny of each artwork, we provide an authenticity certificate with every sale.

However, in the unlikely event that any item which you purchase from Khaas Art’s own collection is, within six months from the sale, proven to the reasonable satisfaction of Khaas Art to be inauthentic or its description as set out on the site, or otherwise, is inaccurate or erroneous, Khaas Art will forthwith refund the full purchase price and shipping costs paid by you, once you return the artwork purchased, to Khaas Art. These cases will be handled on a case-by-case basis and will require examinable proof clearly showing that the item is inauthentic as provided by a known and established authority that is recognized by Khaas Art.

This guarantee shall remain in full force and effect for a period of one year from the date of purchase of the original artwork from Khaas Art, so long as the following conditions have been satisfied:

  • Only the actual buyer (as registered with Khaas Art, or as evidenced by payment receipts) has made the claim. The benefit of the claim is not assignable to any subsequent owners or others who may acquire or have an interest in the original artwork
  • The item is returned in the same condition that it was delivered, which will be determined by Khaas Art
  • The item was indisputably purchased from Khaas Art
  • At the time of the sale, there were techniques available, and it was not unreasonable or impractical for Khaas Art to employ such techniques, which could have determined that the artwork was not authentic.

Featured Artist

Ussman GhauriUssman completed his Bachelors from NCA, Lahore in 1992 and later went on to do his Masters in Art from University of New South Wales, Australia in 2000. He taught at Indus Valley till his untimely death on April 9, 2011. He was a passionate printmaker and worked extremely hard to promote printmaking as a genre in Pakistan. His quest for fulfillment is what served as a driving force behind his creativity. His work and his spirit will be greatly missed.

Khaas Recommends

Converging Lines (A Suite of drawings) Khaas Art, in collaboration with art critic and artist AasimAkhtar, initiated this suite of drawings as a unique dialogue between twelve renowned Pakistani artists. Each artist was asked to present a new work made exclusively for this portfolio. These artists cover the generational spectrum of contemporary Pakistani art. To reach a wider audience, a limited edition publication of high quality offset prints, signed individually by each artist, has also been commissioned.
