ishan Afzal Khan, is an Islamabad based Curator, Gallerist and Collector. Zishan entered the art world as a child, when she took classes with the eminent Modernist Bashir Mirza (BM). She started collecting art in the 1980’s, inspired by the late Ali Imam, whose Indus Gallery was the basis for her earlier purchases. In 1995, Zishan got a diploma in Islamic Works of Art from Sothebys and, in 1997, gave up her job in a financial institution to pursue her passion for art, by joining the well known artist Mobina Zuberi in her already established Art Gallery in Islamabad. In 2002 they moved to their present premises and the gallery continued under the name Khaas Art. “We worked together for over a decade and she taught me a lot about the art world” says Zishan . Mobina still interacts, and exhibits, with Khaas, although she gave up her interest in the Gallery to pursue a full-time painting career. Zishan is also involved in the Khaas Gallery Café and is a Director on the board of Khaas Publications. She also serves on the board of Kuch Khaas, a Non-Profit Organisation, serving as a community centre for Arts, Culture and Dialogue in Islamabad. Zishan went to school in Karachi, Pakistan and has got a MA (Hons) degree in History from the University of Cambridge, UK.

lia is a practicing visual artist and continues to exhibit in Pakistan and abroad. She went to school in Karachi and completed her BFA from Indus Valley School of Art & Architecture in 2007; major in contemporary miniature painting and minor in photography. She went on to pursue her MA in Fine Art at Central Saint Martins College of Art & Design, London, graduating in 2010. She joined Khaas Art soon after this in order to pursue her keen interest in visual art and her desire to make a significant contribution in the curating and installation of exhibitions in Pakistan. Her background and interests will allow her to help curate exhibitions with a global aesthetic context. As an Assistant Curator, Alia is jointly responsible with Babar for day to day management of Khaas Art under the general supervision of the Chief Curator. This includes all business related to exhibitions organized in-house as well as those organized by guest curators. She works with the Chief Curator on sourcing and organizing exhibitions, designing invitation cards and catalogues and interacts with the Press on behalf of the Gallery. She also manages the Gallery database and maintains records on all acquisitions, sales and loans of works of art. She is also responsible for ongoing curatorial writing and research, updating the website and maintaining a dialogue with contemporary artists.
Ussman GhauriUssman completed his Bachelors from NCA, Lahore in 1992 and later went on to do his Masters in Art from University of New South Wales, Australia in 2000. He taught at Indus Valley till his untimely death on April 9, 2011. He was a passionate printmaker and worked extremely hard to promote printmaking as a genre in Pakistan. His quest for fulfillment is what served as a driving force behind his creativity. His work and his spirit will be greatly missed.
Converging Lines (A Suite of drawings) Khaas Art, in collaboration with art critic and artist AasimAkhtar, initiated this suite of drawings as a unique dialogue between twelve renowned Pakistani artists. Each artist was asked to present a new work made exclusively for this portfolio. These artists cover the generational spectrum of contemporary Pakistani art. To reach a wider audience, a limited edition publication of high quality offset prints, signed individually by each artist, has also been commissioned.
